I'm here to tell you today that it is absolutely possible to jump into

The Farmer Update was born as a result of the lack of quality of search
results. People were unable to access the relevant information they
queried because the search engines were clogged up with what Google
deemed as low quality sites, that is, sites that provided little value
or benefit.
Through search engine manipulation sites were able to leap frog to the
top of the search results that didn't deserve to be there. They were
able to secure the lion's share of the traffic and subsequently the
lion's share of the AdSense earnings.

As a result, Google did a massive shakedown and assigned higher
priority to the sites that deserved it while the sites that gamed the
system to snatch their top spots were ousted to the nosebleed section
of the search pages and disappeared.
Friends and colleagues who were hit the hardest and literally lost
entire AdSense fortunes overnight complained to Google as they demanded
answers and Google gave some very valid reasons as to why they
initiated their latest slap, and I paid close attention.

What I learned from that whole episode was nothing short of mind
blowing and although I can't say that I cracked the Google algorithm
code, because let's face it, the secret is locked away in a vault
alongside KFC's 11 secret herbs and spices recipe.
But what I realized was that a very clear and definable pattern was
emerging between the types of sites that got slapped and the kind that
didn't and I share my way of creating bullet proof AdSense sites from
